Welcome back to Beachmont, Bruce Graham!
After 23 years in St. Louis, MO, Bruce Graham has returned to Maryland as our new Executive Director.
Bruce undertakes a heavy load, and he does so with humility and kindness. Supervising our full-time staff, reporting to the board, overseeing camp operations, and leading fundraising are just a few of his responsibilities.
Although Bruce has been away from Beachmont for some time, he is no stranger to the work God is doing here. Our founder, Paul Twining, used to serve as assistant pastor at Aisquith Presbyterian Church under Bruce’s father.
After Paul founded the camp, Bruce grew up traversing these rolling hills in the early days of our ministry. He spent several summers as a junior counselor in the mid ‘80s, and he served as a senior counselor from 1990 to 1993.
When asked about his favorite part of Beachmont, Bruce said it was too difficult to pick just one. First he mentioned the relationships built between staff. “There's a beauty in being on staff and the camaraderie that comes out of it,” he said. “For me, especially during my college years, it was kind of a magical time. That's part of what drew me back.”
Second, Bruce said the atmosphere plays a big part. “I love the feel of the place, what it stands for, and what it's done for the last 40 years. I want to be a part of what it does in the future.”
