Dear Beachmont Family and Friends,

We are excited to welcome our newest staff member, Stewart Walker, into the role of Director of Operations. He has been working behind-the-scenes with the staff team and Board of Directors for the past several months and is joining our staff full-time starting in early July!

Stewart and his family are well-acquainted with Beachmont and have been involved for close to 20 years. They have attended Day Camp and volunteered at the Corn Maze. Stewart has also coached FCA varsity lacrosse and played Softball on our beloved property.

What will Stewart do?

Stewart will oversee all operational aspects of the ministry. This includes staffing, team-building, facilities, property upgrades and capital projects, developing partnerships, and leading strategic planning. He will also serve as the staff liaison to the Beachmont Board of Directors.

What is Stewart’s background?

Stewart has spent the last 9 years as the Director of Facilities, at The John Carroll School in Bel Air, MD. In this role, he worked with the school’s President as part of the Executive Team and was responsible for overseeing daily operations, strategic planning, and capital projects for the 72-acre campus.

Prior to that, Stewart served for 9+ years as the Director of Building Operations at Mountain Christian Church, a project manager for Kinsley Construction and has additional experience in landscaping management, site development, and contracting.

What’s Stewart’s story?

Stewart grew up in a military family with a twin brother and older sister. His father was an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps and his mother was an educator. His family moved to Perry Hall in 1980 and he graduated from Perry Hall High School in 1990. Stewart graduated from UMBC in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography, a minor in History, and a certification in Cartography. He also played lacrosse at UMBC, where he was a 4-year starter, and co-captain for 2 years.

Stewart attributes his decision to become a Christ-follower, in the fall of 1992, as a direct result of the witness of his high-school lacrosse coach, Bill Dunkerton. “Coach Dunkerton was a deeply committed believer that openly shared and demonstrated his faith in a public high school setting. There was something very powerful about his quiet, understated strength, peace and character. He made Jesus and Christianity ‘real’ for me, in a way I had never experienced growing up. The power of that kind of personal relationship and testimonies has continued to influence me throughout my life ”

Stewart is married to Heidi, a freelance writer and editor, and they live with their blended family of 5 children, on a 3-acre farmette in rural Harford County. They enjoy camping, hiking, and competing in off-road trail races.

Stewart is grateful for God’s clear leading and the opportunity to join the staff team at Beachmont and said, “I am very excited to be part of the what God is leading us into during this next chapter at Beachmont. I really enjoy working as part of a team and helping others to develop and succeed and being able to help build upon the solid foundation of Beachmont is an amazing opportunity.”

Stewart’s Favorite Scripture

Philippians 1:27a (NIV) “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ.”

His other favorite verses include Galatians 5:22-23; Romans 8:18, 12:1-3 and James 1:2-4
