Junior Counselor Program

What are Junior Counselors?

Junior Counselors are crucial members of Beachmont’s Day Camp program. As a Junior Counselor, you have the chance to work closely with Summer Staff, provide a great experience for young campers, have fun, and earn community service hours!

First Year JC Orientation

First year Junior Counselor orientation will take place on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

What Will I Be Doing?

Junior Counselors support the Summer Staff and play a vital role in directly helping with daily activities and working with campers. Specific responsibilities will depend on where you will be serving for the session, but may include:

  • assisting in Groups 1-6 (with children ages 4-7),

  • assisting in Groups 7-14 (with children ages 8-13),

  • assisting the Pool Staff with the day-to-day pool operations,

  • working with the General Assistants to support overall camp operations.

What are the Requirements?

To be a Junior Counselor, you must be:

  • 14-17 years old. Junior Counselors who are 14-years-old are only be able to register for two camp sessions.

  • Present for each day and time of the session you register for — we rely on consistent and steady help to provide the best experience for each camper. Please do not schedule appointments and/or vacations for the time you’re registered.

  • At Beachmont at 8:30 a.m. on Opening Day for training, and from 9:00 a.m. — 4:30 p.m. on every other day during the Session you’re serving.
